When the last lines of snow begins to melt in Kashmir, it is the onset of spring season in Kashmir which starts from 15 March, lasts for three months and this season is ideally suitable for Tulips to bloom.
Siraj Bagh or the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is Asia’s largest Tulip Garden which opens during month of April probably in first week and this is the time when Tulip Garden holds a festival in Kashmir, known as Tulip Festival.
At this time tourists both National and International make ways to Kashmir in large folks. The festival attracts lot of tourists around the world.
On one side, there is famous Dal Lake and Foot Hills of Zabarwan range while on other is the spectacle of thousands and thousands blooming tulips on land creating a bed of reds, yellows, pink , whites, blues and purples.
The visitors can take a romantic walk around the blooming buds of Tulip. There are around more than 70 different varieties. This event is meant to bring more and more tourists to the Kashmir valley and it offers a wide window into local culture and stunning beauty of Kashmir.
The tulip Garden lies in the Heart of city along Boulvard road between Cheshma Shahi and Nishat Garden. The tulip garden lasts for only 15 days once in a year.
Tulips depends on the temperature of climate and the arrive or delay the bloom. It is therefore better to make preprations for visiting in advance by checking the dates of the festival.
